Family Gateway x North Texas Giving Day!
$6,000 Raised
Since 1986, Family Gateway has helped thousands of families with children experiencing homelessness on their journeys to stability and positive housing. We are the leading agency in addressing family homelessness in our community and serve as the entry point for families seeking assistance. Services we provide include assessments to determine what interventions a family needs, creative solutions to avoid a shelter experience (e.g., eviction prevention), emergency shelter, supportive housing, general and vocational case management, and education programming.Â
The need in our community is now greater than ever before. Pre-pandemic, approximately 30 new families per month required shelter in our community. This number has risen to an average of 50 new families per month over the last year, with many months including spikes of 60+ new families requiring shelter. In addition to our emergency shelter space, we are supporting 40+ families in overflow care who would otherwise be sleeping in their vehicles or on the streets.
This North Texas Giving Day, we need your help to:
With your support, we will continue doing everything possible to make sure that no child sleeps outside.Â
The mission of Family Gateway is to provide stability and life-changing supportive services to families with children experiencing homelessness.
Currently, our greatest need is monetary support to keep children and families from sleeping in their cars or on the streets.
The underlying systems for education, health, housing, and employment perpetuate homelessness and disproportionately affect people of color and other marginalized groups. For children, the effects of homelessness are especially traumatic. At Family Gateway, we deliver services using an evidence-based approach, are building a staff and board that represent the communities we serve, and consciously incorporate lived experience from current and previous clients. We seek to address the barriers and disparities that people of color and other marginalized groups too often face. We believe that every family deserves safety and stability to regain self-sufficiency and while in our care, we walk alongside families to advocate for them, ensuring they feel valued and understand their importance.
