Ellis County Animal Care Center - SPCA of Texas

A nonprofit organization

The SPCA of Texas and Ellis County SPCA are pleased to share that over the past twelve months, Ellis County SPCA, the SPCA of Texas, and Ellis County Officials have developed a plan for the SPCA of Texas to assume operations of the Ellis County SPCA. The shelter will now be known as the Ellis County Animal Care Center and will continue to focus on lost and found pets, finding homes for animals in need, and providing medical services such as spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations.

The transition of operations was effective July 1st, 2020, and will mean that animals in need throughout Ellis County will continue receiving the care they need. The SPCA of Texas is committed to provide every animal exceptional care and a loving home - something we have been doing throughout North Texas for over 80 years.

The SPCA of Texas works to help animals and strengthen the bond between pets and people. It operates two animal shelters, three veterinary clinics, two mobile veterinary clinics, and an animal rescue center, all located in Dallas and Collin Counties. It also maintains an Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit that responds to thousands of calls in multiple North Texas counties.

In a continued effort to reduce the potential spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), our shelters and clinics have recently been closed to the public. But there is so much invaluable work that continues to be done . . . not only for the animals in our care but for those still being rescued from situations of cruelty and neglect. Caring for our animals never stops, and our dedicated staff is here every day tending to all the animals in our care. Our Pet Resource Center and Outreach Teams are supporting the community by distributing food and offering emergency medical support so that families affected by COVID-19 may keep their pets in their homes and out shelters or off the streets.

And that is why we need you to continue to be there for us.

As we navigate the impact COVID-19 has had on our organization, volunteers, staff, and community, your support has never been more important. This is a difficult time for so many, but because of you, we will continue to weather each and every storm. We are all better when we give together, and although we must be apart during this challenging time, we cannot thank you enough for standing with us.

Our Needs

COVID-19 has had an impact on our organization, volunteers, staff, and our community. Through your support, you are helping our community to weather not only this crisis but whatever may happen in the future. With things changing minute by minute, the one constant is the need to provide critical, life-saving services for all of the animals in our care. As a donor, you are ensuring the animals that the SPCA of Texas will always have the care they need while they find their forever homes - no matter how long it takes.
