Located three miles south of downtown Dallas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo is the oldest and largest zoo in Texas. Founded with just two deer and two mountain lions in 1888 as the first zoo in the Southwest, this City of Dallas-owned but privately managed zoo is a thriving example of a successful public-private partnership. As an accredited member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), the Dallas Zoo is dedicated to being a local and global conservation leader while continuing to provide unparalleled animal care and educational experiences.

Mission

Dallas Zoo's mission is Engaging People & Saving Wildlife.

This serves as our North Star - our guiding force and the source of our continual motivation to achieve our vision of Creating a Better World for Animals. By providing our guests with real-world opportunities to make memorable connections with wildlife and supplementing their experience with conservation messaging, the Dallas Zoo aims to inspire and empower visitors to take action on behalf of wildlife in Texas and around the world.

Needs

The Dallas Zoo provides the highest quality of care for over 2,000 animals and creates opportunities for families to connect with nature and with each other. We take pride inspiring people to care about wildlife conservation, and we need your support to continue this important work.

We rely on generous North Texans like you to help us provide affordable tickets and high-quality educational experiences for Zoo guests, local schools, families, and special population audiences, including learners with sensory sensitivities.

Even beyond our walls, the Zoo's outreach programming and strong social media presence allow us to share engaging, educational, and conservation-focused content with audiences across the region, state, and country who may not otherwise have the opportunity to connect with the Dallas Zoo.

Equity Statement

The Dallas Zoo welcomes and celebrates everyone. We are committed to employing and partnering with all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, or orientation. We recognize that to welcome all we must intentionally reduce barriers to engagement within our park and community.

As we work to build diverse teams and reinforce work environments rooted in inclusion and equity, we continue to apply a consistent diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) lens within our Zoo and Dallas community.
