The Dallas Woman's Forum is celebrating its second century of community service, promoting women's leadership, and historic preservation. The Dallas Woman's Forum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit philanthropic organization started in 1906. With an active membership of women of all professions, ages, races and religions, we share a common goal: to work together to serve the women and children of our local community.
Alongside our charitable and educational undertakings, we are focused on the preservation of a historic Dallas landmark, The Alexander Mansion. The 119-year-old landmark is the only original home left on Ross Avenue sitting outside the downtown Dallas area. The Alexander Mansion has been home to the Dallas Woman's Forum since 1930.
Generations of Dallas women have embraced the Alexander Mansion as a hub for community outreach. We are humbled to be part of a legacy of strong women who make a difference in north Texas.
You may have attended a tea or special event at the Alexander Mansion. If so, then you know first hand what a special place the Alexander Mansion is. Visitors can feel the permanence and history in the plaster walls and wood floors. This home is one of the few links to our history - built in an era when Dallas was finally beginning to develop into the prosperous city it is today. It is not a relic of the past but an inspiration to the future and its preservation is imperative.
Our Focus on NTX Giving Day
We are raising funds for the preservation and restoration of the historic Alexander Mansion.
Immediate needs include the repair and painting of original woodwork on the doors and windows. Stabilization of the foundation and repairs to deter large cracks in the exterior solid antique brick walls are part of our ongoing efforts. Additionally, roof leaks have caused damage to brick walls and water damage to interior wood paneling and trim along with plaster wall surface deterioration.
