Thanks to some very special friends, YOUR DONATION CAN BE DOUBLED! We have received $26,900 in matching funds. The first $26,900 donated for North TX Giving Day will be matched!
(PLEASE NOTE, if you choose to donate anonymously, we will not have the ability to thank you. Please consider opting to hide your identity publicly, which will still let us know privately who donated, and provide us the opportunity to show our gratitude for your generosity!)
Not every child with a disability receives the same level of early intervention as the next. Not every child has parents with resources for necessary therapies. Not every child has the same level of educational programing and opportunity, but even if they did, disability doesn’t discriminate. Some have disabilities that no level of resources can change.
When a ‘child’ who is unable to work exits the public-school system, where do they go?
When Darlene Blakey's first child, Anthony, suffered a devastating illness at just 13 months, her life was forever changed. Despite extensive and irreparable brain damage, Darlene refused to accept a future without joy or purpose for her son. Her unwavering belief that Anthony could still experience a meaningful life became her lifelong mission. Over the years, she championed programs for individuals with special needs through her church, schools, Special Olympics, and more. This journey of love, resilience, and advocacy ultimately led to the creation of The Coventry Reserve—a vibrant place of enrichment and dignity for adults like Anthony.
The Coventry Reserve was founded in 2002 and now serves more than 55 families in its day program for adults with special needs. Our mission is to respect, challenge and support adults with special needs, through creative therapeutic programs in a Christ-centered environment.
Whether we realize it or not, we all have a connection to someone impacted by disability. With one in five people being disabled and a growing push for equal opportunity and inclusion, the chances are only growing that you will soon be interacting one on one with a person with a disability. It is more probable than not that you already are a neighbor, co-worker, church member or patron of someone who cares for a family member with a disability. Here at Coventry, it is our pleasure and joy to engage them as individuals and celebrate when that engagement is reciprocated.
This North Texas Giving Day, your support has the power to:
• Empower Adults with Special Needs through life-enriching programs like adapted fitness, creative arts, brain-building activities, and horticulture.
• Strengthen Families by offering a trusted, joyful environment where loved ones are cared for and celebrated.
• Foster Inclusion and Visibility in the community through participant-led performances, art, and outreach.
• Build Sustainable Growth with expanded facilities, staff, and scholarship opportunities.
• Inspire Purpose and Faith in every participant, staff member, and visitor who experiences our mission.
Thank You for Joining Coventry In Acknowledging the Value of Ability.
Each Individual Is...
As a nonprofit we rely on the generosity of donors to support our mission to respect, challenge and support adults with special needs.
Our families we serve pay tuition for our day program and that tuition revenue accounts for approximately 50% of the needed funds to operate. The sale of our handcrafted pottery goes directly back into the program and funds another 20% of our operational needs. We trust God to provide the remaining support needed to serve now and and grow to expand so as to serve more. For 2025, we are seeking to raise $100,000 to continue serving our guys and gals, with the excellence their families have come to expect from Coventry Reserve. Will YOU buy in to the value of ability? Each Individual is InValuAble!
To respect, challenge and support adults with special needs through creative therapeutic programs in a Christ-centered environment.
In 2002, a small group of parents began a weekly, half-day program serving three adults with special needs in a private home setting. The goal was simple - to provide them a place to learn new skills and make friends in a safe and cheerful environment.
By 2004, the program outgrew the home setting and briefly relocated to a local church. Coventry continued to grow and in 2005, moved to the current facility located in a country setting just North of downtown Wylie, Texas in St. Paul. This move allowed more space for expanding our programs and the number of participants.
Ten years later in 2014, Coventry expanded the existing facility with the addition of a 3,420 sq. foot Life Enrichment Center that allows Coventry to serve more participants from our community. The new building increased the size of the creative skills center, brain building area and added a half court gymnasium, welcome center and gathering porch. That year was our first designated campaign through North TX Giving Day, and donors contributed $5700 towards landscaping for the new Life Enrichment Center.
In 2015, Coventry began offering supplemental programs that include art theory/application and horticulture. That year, donors contributed $7,000 towards our Horticulture gardens.
In 2019 Coventry purchased a residential home and began a weekend respite program for the families we serve. That same year, North TX Giving Day donors helped pay off the mortgage. Future plans include respite programming expanded to a five-day a week program.
Long-range plans include an expansion of our day program facilities, as well as long-term residential care facilities.
