CRT has been rescuing Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes since 1996! In that time we have saved and placed thousands of dogs in approved homes. Our dogs are not warehoused in a shelter, but cared for in healthy, safe and loving foster home environments. CRT foster parents work very hard to be sure that their foster dog feels safe and loved while working on housetraining, crate training, socialization, etc. All of our dogs, before they are available for adoption, are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, fecal tested, microchipped, on heartworm prevention and have all other medical needs addressed (such as heartworm treatment, dentals, luxating patellas, hernias, eye issues, etc.). CRT is known, and has always been known, for taking injured, infirm and elderly Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. Senior and special needs dogs make wonderful companions too!
Mission
Chihuahua Rescue & Transport (CRT) is a foster-based rescue group that places Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes in approved homes. Our mission is to extend public education and awareness regarding the importance of spay/neuter and heartworm prevention, animal abuse and neglect, and the high rates of Chihuahua abandonment and shelter euthanasia. CRT requires an application, vet check, reference check and home visit for each adopter.
Needs
Chihuahua Rescue & Transport is always in need of funds for the basic vetting (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm prevention and microchips) and medical care (such as heartworm treatment, dentals, luxating patella surgery, hernia surgery, eye issues, etc.) needed by the majority of Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes we take into our rescue. We are also always in need of foster homes and volunteers! The more funds, foster homes and volunteers we have, the more Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes we can save!
