The Cedar Hill Food Pantry, now operating under the umbrella of Cedar Hill Shares, has been serving our community since 1989. What began as a grassroots effort to alleviate hunger has grown into a comprehensive community support organization that serves as a vital lifeline for families facing food insecurity and financial hardship.

Today, Cedar Hill Shares assists nearly 1,700 unique individuals and more than 470 households, providing food assistance, emergency financial support, and access to critical resources. While nutritious food distribution remains at the heart of our mission, our services have expanded to address the broader challenges that impact family stability and well-being.

In addition to food assistance, Cedar Hill Shares provides emergency utility assistance through TXU Energy Aid, emergency fuel cards, and connections to other essential community resources. We also serve as a local hub for Meals on Wheels, helping ensure that seniors and homebound residents receive nutritious meals and wellness checks.

Looking toward the future, Cedar Hill Shares is expanding its impact through youth-led and family-centered programming focused on literacy, nutrition education, cooking and meal preparation, physical health, and financial wellness. By addressing both immediate needs and long-term self-sufficiency, we are working to build a stronger, healthier, and more resilient community.

The success of Cedar Hill Shares is made possible through the generosity of donors, volunteers, community partners, and supporters who share our commitment to ensuring that every neighbor has access to food, resources, and opportunities to thrive.

Giving Activity

Mission

Cedar Hill Shares Food Pantry is a community-wide effort to combat food insecurity in our city. We are pledged by our bylaws to provide nourishment to eligible families within the Cedar Hill Independent School District boundary as well as additional assistance, through programming, to our surrounding neighbors.

Needs

**Needs**

As Cedar Hill Shares continues to experience significant growth in demand, our primary need is funding to expand operations and programming to support our strategic goal of serving 5,000 neighbors annually.

To meet this goal, we are seeking support for both general operations and community-based programs focused on nutrition education, literacy, financial literacy, cooking skills, and physical health. These initiatives help families build long-term stability while addressing immediate needs.

Funding will also allow us to continue providing nutritious food, including fresh produce, dairy, meat, and bakery items, as well as emergency assistance and resource referrals. By strengthening our capacity today, we can reach more families, improve outcomes, and ensure that every neighbor has access to the food, education, and support they need to thrive.

Equity Statement

At Cedar Hill Shares Food Pantry, we believe that access to nutritious food is a fundamental human right, not a privilege. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that honors the dignity of every individual we serve, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, ability, religion, sexual orientation, income level, or immigration status.

We actively work to identify and eliminate barriers that contribute to food insecurity and disparities within our community. By centering equity in our programs, partnerships, and decision-making, we strive to ensure that all individuals—especially those historically marginalized—have equitable access to the resources they need to thrive.

Equity is not just a value we uphold—it is the foundation of our mission to promote total literacy to nourish, empower, and uplift every neighbor we serve.
