At Cat Behavior Solutions, our mission is simple but urgent: keep cats in homes and out of shelters

Behavior problems are one of the main reasons cats are surrendered, yet most issues are preventable with the right knowledge and support. We step in where the gap exists—empowering families with the tools to understand their cats, ease frustrations, and strengthen bonds.

We offer an expansive digital library of free resources, covering everything from litter box training to aggression, so cat guardians everywhere can access help when they need it most. For families facing tougher challenges, we provide virtual consultations with individualized treatment plans that often mean the difference between surrender and a lifelong home.

Beyond the home, we work with shelters across the country—training staff and volunteers, improving enrichment, and transforming fearful, shut-down cats into adoptable companions. Every cat we reach is one step closer to a future where shelter euthanasia is no longer the leading cause of death for cats in the U.S.

Our Needs

Cat Behavior Solutions is entirely donor-funded, with no paid staff—your support fuels every program we provide.

Here’s why your help matters:

  • Behavior issues are the #1 cause of death in cats.

  • Over 10 million cats are surrendered to shelters each year in the U.S.

  • An estimated 75% of surrendered cats never make it out alive.

Your donations allow us to:

  • Produce weekly episodes of our educational podcast, Cat Talk Radio.

  • Create free webinars, articles, and YouTube videos that give cat guardians step-by-step help.

  • Provide behavior supplies like scratching posts, enrichment toys, and calming aids to families who can’t afford them.

  • Support virtual consultations for guardians desperate to keep their cats.

  • Partner with shelters to train, enrich, and rehabilitate cats, increasing their chances of adoption.

Together, we can stop the cycle of surrender and give cats the chance to thrive in the homes where they belong.

Mission

At Cat Behavior Solutions, we believe that every cat deserves a safe, loving home. We strive to keep cats where they belong—with their families—by preventing behavior-related surrenders to shelters. We achieve this through providing free, accessible behavior education, personalized virtual consultations, and clear, effective behavior plans. We also partner with shelters nationwide—helping transform fearful or under-socialized cats into confident, adoptable companions. Our ultimate goal: improving the lives of cats and the humans who care for them, by promoting understanding, compassion, and co-existence.

Needs

Cat Behavior Solutions is 100% donor-funded. Every dollar helps us move the needle on cat welfare.

Here’s how your gift makes a difference:

Education & Outreach — Produce Cat Talk Radio, webinars, how-to videos, and written guides so cat guardians everywhere can access the tools to understand and resolve behavior issues.

Behavior Consultations — Offer one-on-one virtual counseling and custom behavior plans to help keep cats in their homes.

Shelter Partnerships & Enrichment — Work with shelters to train staff & volunteers, enrich environments for fearful cats, and rehabilitate them to become adoptable.

Rescue & Medical Care — Provide safe housing, supplies, and veterinary care for cats in urgent need.

Volunteer Power — Support our dedicated volunteers who carry out this mission with no paid staff—all fueled by compassion and community.

Why it matters:

• Behavior issues are one of the main reasons cats are surrendered to shelters.

• Out of millions of homeless or surrendered cats in the U.S., many never find homes and euthanasia remains the number one cause of death in cats in the U.S.

What your donation accomplishes:

$25 could fund an enrichment kit for a shelter cat to help reduce fear and increase adoptability.

$100 provides essential supplies—like enrichment toys, litter boxes, scratching posts, and calming aids—to families who otherwise couldn’t afford them, helping resolve behavior issues and preventing surrender.

$250 could provide one behavior consultation for a family on the verge of surrendering their cat.

$500 could contribute to production costs of one major educational video or webinar, reaching thousands.

Every gift—big or small—helps ensure fewer cats are surrendered and more cats stay in homes where they’re loved.
