$2,500 Goal

Imagine a six year-old boy recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his right femur. Bone cancer, with the likelihood of amputation, a long series of chemotherapy treatments and hospitalization. For this boy his entire world changes in a blink of an eye. A flood of thoughts fill his head, and his biggest concern is if 'I will be able to play like a normal kid again'. Forty years ago Camp Esperanza directed its mission and goals to focus on this exact scenario. How can we help kids with cancer feel normal again? How can we help them believe in themselves and show them there's still fun to be had, friends to be made and walls to be climbed?

Our Needs

Camp Esperanza is free of charge to all campers. Your donation goes directly to sending up to 140 campers to camp every summer!
The cost of providing a one-week camping experience for each camper is $500.00 which means we must raise $70,000.00 to operate camp each year.

Mission

Camp Esperanza provides kids with cancer a week of fun, friendship and confidence building!

Camp Esperanza gives kids with cancer the opportunity to enjoy summer camp while sharing in the best medicine of all - HOPE! The Bridewell Foundation makes this possible for up to 140 kids each summer. The Bridewell Foundation also offers a fall teen retreat for campers ages 15-18. Camp Esperanza, a place where kids can just be kids.

Needs

Camp Esperanza's main needs are donations to pay for the cost of camp for each camper.

Equity Statement

Camp Esperanza is a free camp for children with cancer or blood disorders requiring stem cell transplant who are treated at Children’s Health in Dallas or Plano.

Our campers come from many different backgrounds, and in 2025, 60% were from minority racial or ethnic groups.

Children’s Health is the safety net hospital for Dallas and surrounding areas, working to close gaps in healthcare and address healthcare inequities.

By removing financial barriers, Camp Esperanza gives every child the chance to make friends, enjoy group activities, and simply be a kid—free from the stigma of their diagnosis.
