Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas provides thousands of Greater Dallas youth with a safe place to go after school, a hot meal for dinner, help with homework, and a wide range of age-appropriate, relevant, and effective programs that help them succeed in the classroom and beyond.

BGCD makes sure that young students have a solid foundation in school through the AECE literacy program catching up first-graders who are behind on reading before third grade. Or through programs like SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood, pre-teens and teenagers are participating in intimate group discussions facilitated by a caring adult as they tackle issues of bullying, self-esteem, and much more.

With many of BGCD's teens preparing to be first-generation college students, we offer a college-ready program that not only pairs each teen with a Junior League of Dallas mentor, but assists them with the full college admissions process, applying for financial aid and we even provide an SAT/ACT prep course that's free to our Club members. Beyond our programs, our greatest impact is stemmed from providing youth with a caring and positive relationship with an adult mentor. Our impact equates to more youth in low-income communities graduating from high school with a plan and the skills and resources they need to put it to action.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, BGCD has adapted and changed our strategy to be there for kids who need us most. Initially, BGCD distributed food to the community and moved activities online to keep kids engaged at home. Then, when it was safe to do so, we reopened to provide much needed child care to parents returning to work. As the school year starts again, BGCD will continue to adapt programming to help youth bounce back from the effects of distanced learning and other challenges presented by the pandemic.

Equity Statement

Our mission centers around nurturing the enormous potential inside every young person.

Kids and teens deserve access to experiences and opportunities that change their lives for the better – regardless of their socio-economic status, color of their skin or other factors that contribute to inequity or prejudice in the U.S. today.

Clubs provide inclusive environments where youth of all races, abilities, gender expressions and backgrounds are encouraged to express themselves and deepen their understanding of and respect for others. Through community service, leadership programs and elevating their voices on critical issues such as race equity and social justice, Club kids and teens work together to create positive change and envision a better tomorrow.
