Since 2001, Arlington Urban Ministries (AUM) has utilized volunteers from the community to support our neediest residents. Our mission is to provide rent, utility assistance and food support to families and individuals in urgent need. While our primary goal remains to meet the most basic needs of people in crisis, over the years, we have expanded our programs to support families during the crucial transition from crisis to stability.

Our Programs:

Utility Assistance:
Providing utility assistance to families facing cutoff. This program helps families who are facing a financial crisis keep their lights, water and gas connected. Many times it frees up money to help families pay their rent.

Thriving Families Rental Assistance Program provides 3-6 months of intensive case management and financial assistance to selected clients who have committed to achieving sustained financial and housing stability. Case Management, financial guidance, educational and employment resources are all part of this successful program.

Emergency Food and Necessities for Street Homeless: Each day AUM offers sack lunches to our friends living on the streets or in their cars. We also offer hygiene and seasonal necessities for those living on the street.

Hot Dogs for the Homeless:  Once a month, our generous volunteers grill hot dogs for our homeless friends to give back and offer fellowship and referrals agencies helping our street friends find housing.

Nu2U Resale Store: AUM operatives a popular consignment quality thrift store in Arlington that offers gently used clothing, furniture and household items. Clients receive vouchers for clothing at Nu2U and the community at large shops at Nu2U for great bargains. The proceeds from the donated goods in our store support our programs.
