ARFhouse is a care-for-life, no-kill sanctuary in rural Grayson County, and is home to 327 dogs. We accept abused and abandoned dogs and immediately have them vaccinated and spayed/neutered and placed into our adoption program. Our organization routinely assists animals whose owners are unable to pay for the altering of their animals, particularly elderly people who are on fixed incomes. ARFhouse will also provide financial assistance for any stray animal found that requires emergency medical attention. The major goal is to relieve suffering and to provide comfort and contentment to any dog that crosses our threshold. The puppy "side" of our mission is to accept puppies that we receive word about or that are left at our "doorstep" (as many are). We partner with a puppy rescue in Brighton, Colorado and puppies receive vaccines and are spayed/neutered. We transport them to Colorado, and as of April 14 2020, we have taken 85 puppies to Lifeline. This is an important part of our "mission" since it prevents so many more unwanted animals from being born.

Our Needs

Our veterinary costs have skyrocketed in the past year. We exceed our planned budget 3 out of 5 months. Many dogs that are in our care are older and some have serious health conditions that require frequent trips to the Vet and daily medications. Spay/neuter costs are on the rise. Many dogs left in our care are Heartworm positive and that treatment is also costly .
