Alliance in Reconstructive Surgery Foundation

A nonprofit organization

AiRS conducts outreach and education through client testimonial videos, physicians educational input and other groups research on our website, blog and social media. AiRS also participates with hospitals in outreach education efforts in the Dallas and surrounding areas, including Parkland Breast Center. All women who contact AiRS receive a personal call from a member of the advocacy team to either receive more education about breast reconstruction after mastectomy or to help begin the process of qualification through completing the application and financial proof of income, etc. Once qualified, an advocate helps each woman find the best surgeon and hospital or clinic for her surgery, consults with her on additional funding needed and offers support from that first phone call to after surgery. AiRS advocates create a support network for women that many do not have within their own acquaintances. This surgery helps women to feel whole again, boosting their self-esteem and allowing them to envision a future.

Our Needs

1) AiRS seeks funding to assist in paying for surgery costs of low-income women seeking breast reconstruction after mastectomy. This medical care includes surgeon's fees, hospital or surgical facility costs, anesthesia fees and other expenses directly related to breast reconstruction surgery that is not covered by insurance. Additional funds are need to pay for post-surgery garments, medical tests and x-rays, breast implants or expanders and all other associated costs with reconstructive surgery. Costs continue to rise and AiRS receives more and more inquiries as our outreach program grows. We turn no one away who meets the financial criteria. In the first 7 months of 2018, AiRS received 72 requests for financial support.

Mission

To be a resource and a support system for the women who have had mastectomies as a result of breast cancer or BRCA+ genetic mutations, educating them on reconstruction options, and ultimately assisting them with the cost of reconstructive surgery.
