Texas Council on Economic Education

A nonprofit organization

The Texas Council on Economic Education is dedicated to helping young people in North Texas and across the state learn to think and make better economic and financial choices in a global economy. We help students develop an economic way of thinking and problem solving at an early age so they are able to improve their financial futures. We focus on teaching public school teachers, each of whom will connect with hundreds of individual students - our education multiplier effect. With this mission as our commitment, we provide the following services:
• Teacher Staff Development Training Workshops where our university affiliates provide teachers with content, curriculum and confidence to integrate economics, entrepreneurship and personal finance into any course from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
• The Stock Market Game(TM) where students in grades 4-12 invest an imaginary $100,000 in the real market to learn principles of investment while developing economic and financial literacy, research, critical thinking, teamwork, communication and math skills.
• The Economics Challenge(SM) where exceptional high school students are recognized for their knowledge of economic principles and their ability to apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to real world events. Teams may compete at regional, state and national levels.
• The Personal Finance Challenge(SM) where students can showcase their knowledge of career preparation, earning income, budgeting, spending, credit, saving, investing and financial planning. Teams may compete at regional, state and national levels.
And more…
