I Keep My Park Clean, and Dallas Green

“Together, we keep Dallas’ parks clean, safe, and thriving — one neighbor, one volunteer, one park at a time.”

Our work began in 1986 with the protection of Joppa Preserve. Since then, we’ve helped conserve over 2,000 acres across North Texas. Over the past decade, we’ve raised Dallas’ 10-Minute Walk score from 54% to 74%, connecting over 250,000 more people to greenspace. Every project we pursue is guided by community input and measured by its health, environmental, and economic impact.

Dallas parks don’t take care of themselves — neighbors do. With your support, Trust for Public Land’s I Keep My Park Clean, and Dallas Green program equips volunteers with the tools, training, and resources they need to become lifelong stewards of their parks. From quick pop-up cleanups to lasting community stewardship groups, your gift powers the people who keep Dallas green.

Why This Matters

  • Parks close the equity gap. In Dallas, too many neighborhoods — especially communities of color and low-income families — still lack access to a quality park within a 10-minute walk . By engaging neighbors directly, we’re ensuring everyone has safe, thriving green spaces.
  • Volunteers are the backbone. We help neighbors form and grow stewardship groups, providing mentorship and resources so they can keep their parks welcoming for years to come.
  • Donor gifts fuel action. Small grants and emergency maintenance funds support volunteer-led initiatives that keep parks safe and vibrant.
  • Health and resilience grow here. Parks reduce stress, encourage physical activity, build social ties, and protect communities from flooding, heat, and pollution .

Greener Dallas Greater Dallas: Our Work in Action

  • Dallas Greening Initiative (5 sites): Launching stewardship at five new neighborhood parks in historically underserved areas .
  • Woody Branch Park: Supporting neighbors to form a new group to care for Dallas’ largest greenbelt .
  • Judge Charles R. Rose Park: Sustaining community momentum with post-opening volunteer programs .
  • Big Cedar Wilderness: Strengthening an existing stewardship group to protect 283 acres of natural Dallas beauty.

Who Makes This Happen

  • Meet Sofia → Facilitates workshops, connecting neighbors to design their park’s future.
  • Meet Laura → Organizes cleanups and trains stewardship leaders who sustain local parks.
  • Meet Kahlib → Leads bilingual outreach, ensuring every voice in Dallas can shape their park.

These TPL staff champions are on the ground every week, turning your gift into action.
