$20,000 Goal

Mental health is the crisis of our time.

  • Most people don’t realize that 20% of us deal with a mental health issue.
  • Reported loneliness has reached such levels in the United States to attract the attention of the Surgeon General. Linked to a myriad of physical, emotional, and behavioral problems, the issue is now affecting somewhere between one third to one half of the country’s teens and adults.
  • Suicide is the second leading cause of death for children ages 10 to 14, and the third leading cause of death for those who are 15 to 24.

Texas is the lowest rated state for access to treatment of mental health.  In particular, communities of color have inadequate access to mental health care. More than 60% don’t receive the treatment they need.

At The Center, we are:

  • Lifting up people across communities to reach their potential
  • Breaking down stigma associated with mental health challenges and counseling
  • Giving the gift of hope through counseling in communities where counseling is not accessible
  • Bringing faith to life by honoring people’s faith in counseling

Thanks to the support of foundations, individuals, and partners, we make mental health care accessible. We provide therapy in 15 office locations across North and Central Texas. We bring therapy to those who face barriers to receiving mental health care in collaboration with 6 partner nonprofits in underserved communities. Our 35 highly trained clinicians (psychotherapists and psychologists), plus 9 clinicians in our Residency Program being trained and earning licensure as therapists provide quality, compassionate, professional care.

Mission

Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality counseling, training, psychological evaluations, and educational testing that equip people to grow through life’s changes and challenges.

Needs

We need your donations to support our life-changing work in underserved communities:

• Counseling for children, teens, adults, and families in underserved communities

• Educational and diagnostic testing for children

• Parent-child Interaction Therapy

Families in poverty and minorities face a variety of barriers to receiving counseling such as language, geography, transportation, lack of financial resources, and social stigma. The inability to access care is a brutal cycle, because mental illness further prevents families from finding stability and ending the cycle of poverty, and in turn prevents children from reaching their potential in school.

The Center has established the Partnerships for Accessible Counseling and Training program (PACT) to make mental health care accessible to those who face barriers to receiving help. Through PACT, we make professional counseling and psychological assessments financially and geographically available to those with inadequate access to these life-changing services.

Help us bring hope, healing and growth to underserved communities by giving this North Texas Giving Day.
