The Greater Denton Arts Council has served the Denton Community for over 50 years. As the leading arts organization in Denton, the Arts Council provides support for local artists & encourages creativity through educational programming. Along with managing two sites in historic downtown Denton, the Arts Council partners with local universities, the Denton Independent School District, & the City of Denton.

Each year, over 550,000 people attend an Arts Council-sponsored event. Annual programs, such as Thursday Nights at the PAAC, Picnic at the PAAC, Summer Art Camp, and our family program known as Donut Dayz and Crafts, bring the arts to children & families across Denton County. Our exhibition Materials: Hard & Soft attracts international talent to Denton while 30 UNDER 30 showcases innovative young artists in DFW.

In addition to providing robust education & exhibition programs, the Arts Council advocates for the arts within the community. The Council works with government officials, city commissions, the CVB, Parks & Recreation Department, & local businesses to ensure that all segments of the community have access to the arts. The Greater Denton Arts Council hopes to continue expanding its impact within the community through creative & dynamic ways.

For 2022-2023, we focused on highlighting the creative talents in our local community. From exhibitions like 30 UNDER 30 showcasing the future of art in North Texas, to our summer exhibitions featuring longstanding artist groups like the Visual Arts Society of Texas, Denton Quilt Guild, and Woodturners group, we exhibited artists of different ages and experiences in our gallery.

Our programs included community favorites like Donut Dayz and Crafts and new offerings such as Zine workshops. We will continue to encourage and promote local musicians through our Picnic at the PAAC monthly free music concert on the First Friday of every month.

We continue to offer grants that help fund visual and performing artists' dreams and works in Denton County with 14 artists and performers receiving micro-grants in 2023.

Our future goals for this coming year are to continue to highlight the amazing local talent. We are looking forward to sharing the Impressions art group from the Denton State Supported Living Center exhibition currently in Gough Gallery, and the upcoming 63 & 93: Generations in Conversation exhibition, which will be in Meadows Gallery in October. Finally, keep your eyes open for our most ambitious exhibition called Materials Hard and Soft, which is one of the nation's largest craft shows that attracts international admissions. Materials Hard and Soft open in February of 2024.

We are also looking into fun new ways to celebrate our arts community through our art community celebration in October, where we will award different community members and artists for their contributions to the arts in Denton.

In 2023 we encourage our community to come together for the arts by supporting local artistic communities!
