Founded in 1998 by the Dallas County Dental Society, the Dallas County Dental Society Foundation is a charitable resource for providing Dallas County with essential oral health care needs. Since 1998 the Dallas County Dental Society Foundation has had the opportunity to:

  • Provide over $3.7 million in care to more than 5900 underserved patients at Texas Mission of Mercy held in Dallas since 2004 in partnership with the Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation.
  • Educate elementary school children in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) and other Dallas County schools about oral health and provide them with oral health kits.
  • Place sealants on elementary school students in DISD schools.
  • Launch two programs in conjunction with the Dallas Dental Hygienists' Association to provide oral health education in schools (ToothTalk) and nursing homes (Senior Smiles) in the Dallas area.
  • Offer scholarships to dentists interested in public service. A scholarship for third year dental students will be introduced at the end of 2025.
  • Collaborate with Attitudes and Attire to promote volunteers to provide dentistry to Hopeful Smiles and Boots to Heels programs.
  • Collaborate with 14 other Dallas County dental charity organizations to promote pathways of communication and partnership.

In 2024 alone, DCDS Foundation provided assistance to over 3200 people in Dallas County:

  • During Give Kids a Smile - Dallas in February, 18 dentists and 53 other volunteers provided:
400 oral exams, education and oral hygiene kits for DISD after-school program students,
500 oral health education and oral hygiene kits for students at additional Title I DISD locations.
  • During Dental Tree Program efforts in November, dental volunteers provided:
215 oral health kits and education to low-income seniors when delivering meals through VNA Meals on Wheels,
1100 oral hygiene kits and education to 1100 students at Dallas County Title I elementary schools,
600 oral health kits for distribution to Vickory Meadows pantry.
  • During Dental Tree Program efforts in November, 6 dentists and 8+ other dental volunteers in private dental offices/clinics provided:
12 underserved patients with general, direct restorative and removeable restorative treatments totaling $41,582 in treatment.
  • During four community health fairs in under-represented areas of Dallas, dental volunteers provided oral health kits and education to
    416 individuals.

Mission

The mission of Dallas County Dental Society Foundation is to enhance oral health in our community.

Needs

In 2026, the DCDS Foundation will help bring a Texas Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic to South Dallas—providing free dental care to more than 500 patients in just one weekend. Your support will make this life-changing event possible.

In addition, donations this year will strengthen programs that bring dental care directly to those who need it most:

Dental Tree Program – Every November, local dentists and their teams open their offices to serve Dallas County’s most at-risk populations. Together, we are planting the seeds of healthier smiles and stronger communities.

Scholarships for Future Dentists – Alongside our Public Health Scholarship, we are launching a new scholarship for third-year dental students, beginning in late 2025, to invest in the next generation of dental leaders.

Oral Health Kits & Education – Donations also provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and oral health education for underserved children, families, and seniors (distributed at health fairs, school-based Tooth Talks, and assisted living facilities.)

Every gift helps expand access to care, inspire future dental professionals, and bring healthier smiles to Dallas County.
