Mission

After8toEducate ("After8") is a first-of-its-kind public-private collaborative to support unsheltered high school youth in Dallas, bringing together community resources to reduce the number of young adults experiencing homelessness and foster self-sufficiency.

After8toEducate offers an umbrella solution to allow unsheltered high school students to develop academically, emotionally, and socially to ultimately live healthy and productive lives. In collaboration with the Dallas Independent School District and Community Council of Greater Dallas, After8 provides a three-pillar program at the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center. This program addresses the needs of high school students experiencing housing insecurity in DISD.

Needs

Homeless youth in Dallas deserve the opportunity to complete their education without worrying about where they will sleep and where they will get their next meal. So, After8toEducate is implementing a research-based, coordinated services framework for homeless youth.

We hope you will join us as we provide the quarterback role for unique collaboration of services that allow homeless youth to develop academically, emotionally, and socially to ultimately live healthy and productive lives.

Equity Statement

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are of the utmost importance to the After8toEducate team. Equity itself is at the center of our mission (to provide high school students with a pathway out of homelessness and poverty) as we know that poverty is experienced disproportionately by individuals of color. We continue to seek collaborative partners and programming that reflect the youth we serve.
