AVANCE-Dallas Inc.

A nonprofit organization

Founded in 1996, AVANCE-North Texas has strengthened over 50,000 North Texas families in at-risk communities through our evidence-based, parent education and support programs. Our targeted program services reflect the cultural, racial/ethnic, and linguistic background of our families and provide specific strategies based on families' and children's unique needs, ensuring that racial equity is embedded in our systemic approach. Meaning "advance" or "progress," AVANCE serves as a trusted guide to assist under-resourced families of young children in overcoming isolation and lack of opportunity.

Using our unique two generation education and relationship-building methodology, we help family members become the best parents, employees, and citizens they can be. We aim to liberate parents and their children from the cycle of poverty in a family-oriented, non-judgmental environment. The result, our families enjoy a more prosperous future full of opportunity and economic self-sufficiency.

 Our Work

Education is the core of AVANCE. 63% of our certified instructors and our support staff are former participants in our programs. Now serving as role models, they deliver parent training and quality early childhood education programs with care and compassion. We believe parents are their child's first and most influential teachers.

Our program's success is rooted in our commitment to evidence-based practices and ongoing evaluation. We strive to achieve measurable outcomes, empowering families with the tools and resources they need to thrive. By building a sense of community and social capital, AVANCE creates a support network that extends beyond the classroom, strengthening the bonds among families and promoting a culture of lifelong learning. In 2024-2025, 79% of our parent graduates of our Parent-Child Education Program (PCEP) reported a significant increase in positive Parent-Child Interactions by the end of the program, and 95% of our child graduates met or exceeded their developmental age at or above their target. These accomplishments showcase the impact of our programs in promoting cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Our Needs

Education is a stepping stone towards a better future and a right that all children should be able to access without barriers in their way. However, children from historically marginalized and underserved communities have a much higher chance of falling behind compared to their classmates due to a lack of resources and finances. Here in North Texas, we have a high population of immigrant families with predominantly Hispanic backgrounds who have limited access to educational development for their children due to economic, societal, and educational factors. By providing our services and programs to these communities, we can help achieve a more equitable future and create opportunities for children who have had to overcome educational and social barriers. In order to reach more families and influence change that affects the lives of children from underserved communities, we are seeking general support funding to help increase our capacity.

Your support will help us to continue providing and expanding our programs to ensure Hispanic families are not being left behind.

Mission

AVANCE walks alongside children and families to achieve social and economic justice.

Our Vision

We envision a world where all children and families have equitable access to resources and opportunities to reach their fullest potential, transforming the communities in which we live.

Needs

There are still many families in North Texas looking for support, connection, and opportunities for their children. With your help, we can expand our programs and reach more families.

We also welcome volunteers who want to be part of this work. Some of the ways volunteers support AVANCE include helping at family events like our Toy Contest, preparing materials for parent and classroom activities, reading with children, and supporting special events throughout the year.

Every act of support, whether giving or volunteering, helps us create a strong and caring community for our families.

Equity Statement

AVANCE-North Texas serves all members of the community regardless of age, race, color, religion, creed, citizenship status, marital status, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other protected status under applicable law.
