The 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation was founded in January of 2012 to honor the life of Anna Basso, who was diagnosed at age 16 with Ewing sarcoma, a bone and soft tissue cancer primarily affecting adolescents and young adults (80% of diagnoses are between the ages of 10-20). Anna battled for 18 months before passing away less than a month after her 18th birthday and just ten days after graduating from high school. There are three pillars to our mission:

1) Fund promising Ewing sarcoma research with the help of our Medical Advisory Board. Since 2012, we have awarded more than $600,000 to pre-clinical research. Our largest grant of $250,000, was awarded in December of 2016 and established a formal Ewing Sarcoma Research Program at UT Southwestern led by Dr. James Amatruda.
2) Award college scholarships to Ewing sarcoma survivors and warriors. To date, the program has awarded nearly 200 scholarships totaling more than $500,000.
3) Support families with a child in treatment and support all teens fighting any cancer through our Anna's Closet program. We have provided monetary support and/or spirit lifting packages for more than 150 Ewing sarcoma warriors. Our Anna's Closet Program is offered in 20 children's hospitals - 10 of which are in Texas.
