One of the biggest yearly expenses is coming up in December. All 35 equines are due for their annual dentals, shots, and Coggins. Older horses need their teeth floated each year - the vet smooths and shapes the teeth so that there are no sharp points to cut the inside of the horse's mouth and also to ensure that the teeth are lining up when they chew - so they aren't dropping feed. This is extra important for older horses as many are missing teeth. They have annual vaccinations for things like rabies, West Nile, and other dangerous diseases. Horses also need an annual Coggins test. While they are here, the vet also addresses any special needs or recent injuries. The cost for all 35 equines is ~$9300.
