Help Us Help The Animals
“What’s happening to me? Why am I here?” This is the bewilderment animals experience when they arrive at the Tri-City Animal Shelter & Adoption Center. They may be lost - injured - sick - not wanted by their families anymore.
About 650-700 animals a month, from Cedar Hill, DeSoto and Duncanville (communities served) end up at the shelter monthly. Sometimes there are so many, they are housed in shelter offices and temporary kennels. This is heartbreaking.
The immense amount of work all these animals require is hard to fathom. The professional, loving and dedicated shelter staff, along with the animal-control-officers, our core of volunteers and foster parents do the “heavy lifting”. ALL of us should be grateful for those who do this very difficult work.
Your NTGD gift allows us to help fund a wide range of shelter needs: surgeries for broken bones/teeth, prescription drugs, spaying/ neutering (1,810 in 2024); heartworm treatment and all sorts of items not in the budget. The needs seem to be endless and the expenses consistently rising. The items below are specific needs the shelter would benefit from having.
Bradford, Honor Guard, Zodiac, Meteor, Katniss and Skipper found their furever homes. Your gifts help us help the animals, so all of them can be sleeping soundly as a member of someone’s family. Remember: Adopt - Foster - Rescue.
Our mission is to partner with Tri-City Animal Shelter to improve the welfare of homeless, neglected, and lost animals.
Will You Help Us Help The Animals?
Here is how you can help:
-Donations through NTGD through 9.18.25
-Donate directly through our website at www.tricityfriends.org/donate
-Adopting a Kennel at the Tri-City Animal Shelter
Specific Needs:
-Orthopedic Pack x 2 - SX Use
-Card ID Printer - Volunteer/ Event Use
-Cat Condos for offsite, fosters, and PAL $300 each (Just got some but could still use 2/3 for fosters)
-Bulk supply of Medium/ Large Wire Crates - Shelter/Event Use
-Emergency Trailer Resupply $75 each
-Van + Trailer Re-Wrapping - $4,000 per vehicle
- Scale for use in adoptions to monitor weights during stays for long-termers - $350 - $500 each
- Scale for use in isolation to prevent from cross contamination $350 - $500 each
- Modify the isolation kennels to allow for a small play yard for the sick pups (cost unknown but could get construction estimate guess is under $5,000)
- Consider changing the cages that are a little hidden at the East end of the cat display by the door leading to the back into a cat condo for multiple cats to crawl and play. (cost unknown but could get a construction estimate, guess is under $3,000)
- Consider adding portals to at least some of the cat cages to allow for more space when we are not full. -$65 each plus installation labor
- Consider Cat get to know you room redo. Cats don’t use those shelves. They are a little narrow. Fix it up for more interaction. (cost unknown but could get a construction estimate, guess is under $3,000)
-Adoption pod windows one way film - replaces curtains & barrier aggression (cost unknown but could get construction estimate, guess is under $2,000)
-Better window card system - Putting the window cards above or beside the kennels in secure holder (cost unknown but could get a construction estimate, guess is under $1,000) This may even allow for better signage for the animals if a larger holder could be used.
Friends of Tri-City Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that partners with the shelter to increase adoptions and ensure every animal is healthy and sterilized before joining their new family.
