Educational Opportunities, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

For sixty years, charitable contributions have enabled Educational Opportunities to provide mentorship and scholarship assistance to hundreds of Dallas ISD Magnet High School graduates. These students are bright and motivated but lack the resources to attend college without substantial financial help. Despite limited means and family support, they have successfully pursued their academic goals in several areas, including law, medicine, science, education, the arts, engineering, and technology.  79% of our scholars graduate college in four years, well exceeding the national four-year average of 47%.

Our Needs

Funding is needed to provide partial 4-year scholarships in the amount of $40,000 per student ($10,000/year) toward tuition and textbooks to culturally diverse student scholars graduating from Dallas ISD Magnet High Schools.

Mission

Educational Opportunities, Inc. (EdOp) is a volunteer organization in Dallas, Texas, dedicated to assisting youth who have the academic ability but not the financial means to attend college.

Needs

EdOp seeks annual financial support from the community to provide partial scholarships to the 65 students (freshmen to seniors) currently served in our program. The scholarship grants provided by EdOp are coupled with individual mentoring provided by members of the Board of Trustees.

Students selected for an EdOp scholarship receive an annual grant of $10,000 that is renewable for four years. Funds are provided at the beginning of each semester (fall and spring) for tuition and books and/or related expenses.

In addition to this financial assistance, each student is assigned a mentor who provides motivational support and guidance for challenges that might arise during a student's college career.

Equity Statement

In all aspects of our work, we celebrate, respect, and incorporate the diversity of all members of the Educational Opportunities, Inc. community.
