Our Needs

1. Leadership Training Scholarships for Women and BIPOC
TISA is dedicated to supporting the amplification of underrepresented voices in American Muslim Leadership. To continue in our efforts to diversify American Muslim leaders, we are seeking motivated supporters who wish to increase the presence of Women, as well as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in leadership roles across the country. Leadership training scholarships for women and BIPOC.

We aim to award 20 Leadership Scholarships at $3000 each, annually. Donate to NTxGD today to support this crucial effort!

2. Scholarships for Prophetic Leadership and other Short Courses
As the world confronts challenges like inequality, injustice, and leadership crises, prophetic leadership presents a valuable model. It promotes a leadership approach grounded in ethical values, social responsibility, and justice, which can be utilized to tackle contemporary issues.

We aim to award 100 Prophetic Leadership Short Course Scholarships annually, each valued at $300 to $800. By supporting TISA during NTxGD, you contribute to building a stronger community. Every community needs effective leadership to ensure that families and individuals feel safe, welcomed, and have access to the necessary tools and resources to thrive. TISA is committed to cultivating these leaders from within.

Mission

Our mission is to cultivate generations of world class doers and thinkers who lead from an Islamic paradigm while engaging contemporary challenges and opportunities. Our vision is a world constantly bettered by religious scholarship and ethical leadership.

When you support TISA, you support the development of stronger, more ethical and effective American Muslim leaders in North Texas and beyond; Leaders who represent the diversity of voices and experiences in the American Muslim community; Leaders who bridge the gap between the traditions of our faith and the contemporary challenges we face everyday. Your contribution goes on to transform our leadership, our communities, and our families for generations to come.

Equity Statement

TISA will strive to do the following in carrying out its actions as an educational institution:

1. Include the diversity of thought and opinion within the Muslim American Community as long as it resonates with the ethos and meaning of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)

2. Commit to equitable treatment and opportunity for all men and women and elimination of all forms of discrimination throughout the institution

3. Make its offerings accessible to people from economically stressed communities

Allah states in the Qur'an, "O humanity, we created you from a single (pair) of a male and female and made you into nations and tribes that you may know other (not that you may despise each other), Verily, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (the one who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well-acquainted with all things." (49:13)

This often-quoted verse of the Quran provides a good foundation for a diversity policy for an Islamic educational institution such as The Islamic Seminary of America (TISA). Like the community led by Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) over 1400 years ago, TISA will not only aim to be exemplary when it comes to Islamic education, it will also endeavor to be a leader (for both the Islamic and broader American society) when it comes to inclusiveness.

Such inclusiveness must be based on Islamic principles as reflected in the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as well as over 1400 years of tradition that is in accord with these two basic touchstones of Islamic understanding.
