Needs
Core programs serve over 3,000 annually, bringing real-world conflict resolution to contemporary societal issues through "boots-on-the-ground" evidence-based, practical approaches. One CommunityUSA is seeking funding to support and expand two key strategic community-building programs:
Shop Talk (Barber Shop Outreach Program) – seeks to build strong, trusting, and supportive relationships among African American, Latino, and Asian shop owners, their customers, area youth, and first responders. The program builds bridges of trust, educates, empowers, advances racial equity, and encourages neighborhood stabilization, revitalization, and economic development (jobs).
Pathways to H.O.P.E. (Helping Offenders Pursue Excellence) Reentry, Diversion and Restorative Justice Program – serving military Veterans and returning citizens in Dallas, Rockwall, and Tarrant Counties. Programming consists of a 40-hour ‘inside the walls’ classroom-based Prevocational and Workforce Readiness component, followed by an 18-month ‘outside the walls’ Journey Home Vocational and Leadership program, including a Restorative Justice module.
