The Mark Cuban Foundation is a 501(c)(3) private non-profit led by Dallas Mavericks proprietor, Mark Cuban. The AI Bootcamps Program at MCF seeks to inspire young people with emerging technology so that they can create more equitable futures for themselves and their communities.
The AI Bootcamp Program is targeted toward underserved high school students (grades 9-12) and offers participants a change to learn about the fundamentals of AI. Through the curriculum developed by the Program, students will explore the world of artificial intelligence, including ethical implications and real-life applications, such as TikTok recommendations, smart home assistance, facial recognition and self-driving cars. Participants will also discover features of Large Language Models like ChatGPT, which can answer questions, create original stories, and even generate computer code.
All AI Bootcamps are provided at no-cost to students. The Mark Cuban Foundation provides the Bootcamp's curriculum materials, trains corporate volunteer mentors, and recruits local students to attend. In addition, the Mark Cuban Foundation and its corporate partners work together to provide food, transportation assistants, and access to laptops for students during the Bootcamp.
The Mark Cuban Foundation has impacted over 900 students to date and has a goal to increase that number year over year. In 2023, MCF will host over 30 Bootcamps in 30 cities across the country serving nearly 800 high school students in underserved communities.
