Dallas-based Echo Theatre is the Southwest's premier theatrical organization dedicated to producing works created by women+. Founded in 1998, Echo Theatre has built a national reputation for enthusiastic collaboration with women playwrights. We have conducted three International Big Shout Out New Play Contests and one Special Project, which yielded 5 mainstage productions and 23 staged readings of new work. Supporting Echo supports women playwrights, who continue to struggle for a place on American stages.
The continuing impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on arts venues demanded solutions. Our podcast, Echo Offstage, will soon begin its 6th Season and continues to bring in new listeners and we are now receiving suggestions from those listeners for future guests. We feature local and internationally known women of theater. With a focus on playwrights, we are additionally spotlighting designers, administrators, and directors of national organizations. This program has great promise for growth and is seeking sponsors. FREE wherever you love to listen!
Our ECHO READS series will present our 6 Finalist Honorees from the Big Shout Out 3 Contest. To better serve our audience base and our community, we perform two readings of each play - once at our home base, the Bath House Cultural Center, and once at a Venue Partner somewhere in the City of Dallas. This program is FREE to attend. Donations are accepted.
Echo continues to produce live works onstage in a masked audience environment. We have never shut down a show due to COVID and by continuing safe rehearsal and performance standards we hope we never will.

Our Needs
Echo Theatre is in need of Programming and Operating funds. 87% of our budget goes to salaries for local actors, designers, and staff. You can help keep women's theatre alive and thriving in North Texas! Thank you!
