Founded in 1996, the Duncanville ISD Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that began by partnering with the community to fund innovative teacher-created learning projects for students. Awards were made to teachers whose project was deemed to result in increased student achievement. Funds for programs and projects were supplied outside of the regular school district budget through a competitive grant application process. The Education Foundation has funded over $1,100,000.00 to the District in the last 27 years.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, our focus changed from innovative teaching grants to large-scale fund-raising efforts to support the needs of all students. This school year, we will focus on legacy district/foundation programs as well as other underserved areas of student learning.
Our Needs
The Duncanville ISD Education Foundation is seeking funding in the amount of $100,000+ to increase the number and size of areas of student learning where additional dollars are needed. The Education Foundation is seeking to expand its support to include: 1) professional development opportunities for District staff (who participate through an employee annual fund); 2) Special Needs students; (3) literacy in all grade levels; (4) homeless students and their families; (5) CATE resources to expand programs across the district; and, 6) Instructional needs that arise between grant application periods.
