Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps (DCWJC) provides Christ-centered mentoring and workforce education to equip women for life and employment. At Dallas Christian Women’s Job Corps, we believe that each woman we encounter has infinite value and offers a unique perspective to life. Women who participate in our program are often struggling with low self-esteem, lack of job skills, addiction, incarceration, domestic violence, and generational poverty. DCWJC offers a mix of workforce readiness, high school equivalency, English language, and life skills support to empower women to pursue a sustained and adequate income, quality childcare, dependable transportation, safe housing, and affordable medical care.
Beyond education, the women we serve experience a supportive community built around our staff, teachers, mentors, counseling services, and a bond of sisterhood formed while they are in our program. This sisterhood and support are sustained after graduation through our alumnae activities. We are proud to provide a place of respite, hope and belonging to all women who enter our doors.
Our core Workforce Readiness and Life Skills Program (WRLS) provides our participants with enhanced skills to re-enter the job market. This program contains three components: (1) Bible study to help each woman build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; (2) job and life skills education including: computer skills, resume writing, interview techniques, goal planning, parenting/relationship building, communication skills, conflict resolution, budgeting, and nutrition; (3) our participants are partnered with mentors who walk alongside them for 3 months and guide them toward meeting their stated goals.
For women not quite ready for our workforce education component, other DCWJC classes develop pre-workforce skills that prepare them for our cornerstone WRLS program. These classes include:
-
English Learning Lab where participants can improve their English fluency using a self-paced online program
-
Pre-WRLS program where participants master their fluency while they participate in a portion of our WRLS program
-
GED course where participants prepare for taking the GED exam using a self-paced online program. Obtaining this certification is a critical component in their quest for employment.
-
Online classes offered to women incarcerated at Dallas County Jail.
Additionally, we have supplemental WorkSmart summer sessions which focus on topics such as budget planning, time management, using online graphic design tools, career coaching, creating a professional resume using Word, and repairing credit.
Through the generosity of donors like YOU, Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps continues to provide women with Hope and a Future.
