Help Me Fund a Coppell ISD Teacher's Big Idea

I'm raising money for Coppell ISD teachers, and here's why it matters.

At Coppell High School, students with disabilities run a coffee shop that serves staff every day. It's called the Cowboy Coffee Crew. 

A grant from the Coppell ISD Education Foundation funded the technology that makes it work like a real workplace, so those students learn customer service, recover from mistakes, and walk into a first job with confidence and references.

That's one of 45 classroom grants Coppell neighbors funded last year, across 12 CISD campuses. Teachers apply with ideas their budgets can't reach: maker carts, novel sets, science kits, the experiment someone has been sketching on a napkin for two years. Community volunteers review them. Then the checks get hand-delivered by surprise, with jingle bells and all!

One more thing worth knowing: gifts to the Education Foundation are protected from state recapture. Coppell sends millions of local tax dollars to the state every year ($25.7 million last year), but not this. This stays home, in Coppell ISD classrooms, with the teachers who need it.

This year our teachers will need more than $100,000 in classroom grants. My goal is $500, which is ten friends at $50. If you've ever thought about giving back locally, this is about as direct as it gets!
