Understanding of culture and language is a huge barrier to mental health services. I have personally heard clients report that they spend most of their sessions explaining their family culture and nuances which delayed their progress. Cannenta Foundation was developed to help eliminate barriers to services.
The Hispanic population is the fastest growing population in Texas. It is predicted that in the next few years, Hispanics will be the majority in Texas. As a result, there will continue to be a need for bilingual mental health services.
Our need is to provide funding for our two projects that push forward culturally sensitive and bilingual mental health care for our community.
Our Project Ayuda strives to help pay for culturally sensitive mental health services for those who need it. We believe that everyone should have access to evidence-based, culturally and linguistically sensitive mental health care.
Our Project Adelante strives to empower Hispanic mental health clinicians to complete requirements for clinical licensure in the state of Texas by removing financial barriers of supervision hours and testing. We seek to double the number of bilingual clinicians by providing financial assisting in receiving 100 hours of supervision, 3000 hours of client contact, and cost of clinical testing.
Your contribution will directly to providing bilingual, culturally sensitive services to under- or uninsured individuals. Every dollar helps.
