The Family Place is the leading organization in North Texas delivering proven programs that address emotional and physical abuse for survivors of domestic violence. We provide free comprehensive services that fully support women, children and men on their path from fear to safety. At The Family Place, we believe everyone deserves to live a life free from violence, and we are committed to creating a safer, healthier community for all.

In 1978 a group of community volunteers organized The Family Place as one of the first family violence shelters in the state. Today The Family Place is the largest family violence service provider in Texas, with three emergency shelters providing 177 shelter beds each night, including the state's only shelter for men and children, and three counseling centers.

In 2024, The Family Place:

- served 40,150 clients

- provided 42,140 days of emergency shelter

- 20,805 days of transitional housing

- 4,480 hours of counseling to residential clients

- and 6,601 hours of counseling to batterers.

We provide child care for the women and men in our shelters so they may continue to work, attend counseling and begin to start a new life free of violence. We offer a pet kennel so survivors fleeing an abusive environment can bring their dog or cat with them and know that they are safe too.
