Supplying Our Seniors

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the need that it created, an organization was born with a mission to protect our most vulnerable citizens, our seniors. The organization, Supplying Our Seniors, aka S. O. S., was formed by a group of private citizens with a desire to serve. SOS was quickly formulated to aid those seniors identified with the direst need;the most financially constrained, disabled, or physically limited, with no family support, orthose with underlying conditions that restrict their ability to be outside of the home.

Recognizing the need for supplies as well as socialization, SOS provides social outreach via

wellness calls, personal shopping, and delivery from the store to the senior’s doorstep.  The care packages consist of essential items, including food, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products.

Giving Activity

Mission

Starting as a small grass roots organization of six (6) of 6 volunteers, SOS has grown to over 30 active volunteers in a matter of weeks, and the organization is still growing.

The mission of S.O.S. is the serve senior with food, hygiene care products and basic supply to live a function and fruitful life. Supplying Our Seniors (S.O.S.) is our mission.

Needs

To date we have served 214 seniors since mid-March 2020 and anticipate serving an additional 60 during the month of July (phase 5), which will bring the total served to 274 seniors. The need among our seniors has increase which has placed a demand on our financial resources in providing resources to the senior population of Dallas/Fort Worth

Equity Statement

Our commitment to building positive, purposeful interactions with communities and seniors so that barriers to basic daily resources are removed. Diversity among SOS leadership and volunteers is valued, sought, and embraced. A person's background (racial, ethnic, religious, gender, gender identity, class, traumatic experiences) does not limit our service or expectations of the outcomes. Resources are allocated so that every senior gets what they need.
