About Southside Hornets Athletic Association

Founded in 1975, Southside Hornets Athletic Association (SHAA) has served as a cornerstone of youth development in Fort Worth, Texas for over 50 years. Our mission is to provide a transformational and nurturing environment that empowers youth to maximize their athletic, academic, and life potential.

Serving many of Fort Worth's historically underserved communities, including neighborhoods within ZIP codes 76104, 76105, and 76119, SHAA uses sports as a gateway to mentorship, leadership development, character building, academic encouragement, and positive community engagement.

Our motto, "Keeping kids in sports, not courts," reflects our commitment to creating safe spaces where young people can learn discipline, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and confidence while building meaningful relationships with coaches, mentors, law enforcement partners, educators, and community leaders.

As an official National Police Athletic/Activities League (NPAL) chapter, SHAA works alongside community partners to provide year-round programming that includes football, basketball, track and field, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness initiatives, family engagement activities, and youth enrichment opportunities.

Your support helps us remove barriers to participation by providing scholarships, equipment, uniforms, transportation, mentoring programs, educational opportunities, and positive experiences that expose youth to new possibilities and pathways for success.

When you invest in Southside Hornets, you are investing in the future of Fort Worth's youth, families, and communities.

Together, we are developing leaders, strengthening communities, and keeping kids in sports, not courts.

Giving Activity

Mission

Southside Hornets Athletic Association empowers youth to maximize their athletic, academic, and life potential through sports, mentoring, leadership development, and community engagement. Guided by our motto, "Keeping kids in sports, not courts," we provide positive pathways that help young people build character, confidence, leadership skills, and a foundation for lifelong success.

Needs

Community Need

Many of the youth and families we serve face barriers that limit access to organized sports, mentoring opportunities, leadership development, and positive after-school activities. Rising costs associated with registration fees, equipment, uniforms, transportation, and program operations can prevent children from participating in experiences that support their physical, academic, social, and emotional development.

Southside Hornets Athletic Association serves youth throughout Fort Worth, with a focus on historically underserved communities, including ZIP codes 76104, 76105, and 76119. Through athletics, mentoring, and community engagement, we provide safe, structured environments where young people can develop discipline, teamwork, confidence, leadership skills, and positive relationships with caring adults.

Funding is needed to help offset the costs of uniforms, equipment, facility rentals, transportation, scholarships, mentoring programs, leadership activities, and youth enrichment opportunities. Every contribution helps ensure that financial hardship is not a barrier to participation and that more young people have access to programs that keep them engaged, supported, and on a path toward success.

Your investment helps us continue our mission of keeping kids in sports, not courts while developing the next generation of leaders in our community.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment where all youth and families feel valued, supported, and empowered. Through athletics, mentoring, leadership development, and community engagement, we work to reduce barriers to participation and create pathways for young people to access positive experiences, caring adult relationships, and opportunities that help them reach their full potential.

Our programs are designed to serve diverse communities across Fort Worth, with a focus on ensuring that youth from historically underserved and under-resourced neighborhoods have equitable access to the resources, support systems, and developmental experiences needed to thrive. We believe that strengthening opportunities for all youth strengthens families, communities, and our collective future.
