Roller Coaster Recovery Inc

There's a moment on a rollercoaster near the top of the lift hill, right before the drop, when everything goes quiet. You're suspended between what you're afraid of and what you're about to do. That moment is recovery. Not the dramatic rock bottom or the one-year chip, but the quiet choice to do something different and see what's on the other side.

Roller Coaster Recovery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Plano, Texas, serving the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area with substance-free social experiences designed for people in and out of recovery, sober curious individuals, and the people who love them. Theme park outings, museum visits, trolley rides, arcade nights, outdoor walks, rooftop movie screenings, real world events that make sober life feel full, connected, and worth showing up for.

We are not a treatment or therapy. We are not a replacement for meetings or clinical care. We are what happens after and alongside all of that. The Saturday afternoon, the Sunday in the park, the Tuesday night when you need somewhere to go that isn't a bar and isn't your couch.

Every RCR event is built around three non-negotiables:

1. Clarity

2. Safety

3. Low Pressure

You always know exactly what you're walking into. Events are completely substance-free, anonymity is protected, and you'll never have to share your story or explain how you got here. If you show up, you're part of it. Your presence is enough!

Our community spans the full spectrum:

- decades of sobriety

- first 30 days

- sober curious

- sober allies

The common thread is a willingness to show and do something real together.

In 2026 we built a full-year arc of programming. The first half focuses on foundation, courage, flow, and belonging.

- six flags meet-up

- quad skating

- free museum days

- trolley nights

- and more

Each month carries a theme and every event is substance-free, low-pressure, and genuinely fun.

The second half layers in outreach through RCR Ride and Provide. A direct contact initiative, we purchase and distribute care packages, DART passes, Narcan, and Practical Essentials to people in transition at locations like the 24-hour Club, Homeward Bound, Nexus Recovery Center, and The Bridge. A DART pass is more than transportation. It's access to meeting a job interview, medical appointment, the next step that keeps someone moving forward.

As the year closes our events incorporate service, partnering with DFW organizations during the holiday season in soup kitchens, food banks, toy drives, and community events alongside our regular holiday events, not instead of them. As we grow we are working towards scholarship funding for individuals seeking placement in rehabilitation programs and sober living facilities. If someone is ready for help and the only barrier is money, we want to be part of closing that gap.

Dallas-Fort Worth has meetings and treatment programs. What's missing is the space between those resources and full, joyful life, where people practice living sober, not just avoiding relapse. That's the space we exist to fill.

Community is not an add-on to recovery. Community is recovery.

In life and in recovery, there are no single rider lines. We do this together.

Giving Activity

Mission

Roller Coaster Recovery Inc. creates substance-free experiential outings — theme parks, museums, trolley rides, and cultural events — that help people in and around recovery build real connection, momentum, and joy. In life and recovery, there are no single rider lines. We do this together.

Needs

Scholarship funding for paid events, DART pass books for Ride & Provide distribution, care package supplies, and operational costs to sustain monthly programming through Q4 2026.

Equity Statement

RCR provides scholarships at every paid event so cost is never a barrier to participation. We welcome people across all recovery pathways, sober-curious individuals, LGBTQ+ community members, and sober allies. Every event is substance-free, anonymity-protected, and zero pressure.
