Make The Healthy Choice Foundation is a South Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving community health through environmental, nutritional, and fitness education. We believe healthy communities are built when residents have access to safe outdoor spaces, opportunities for physical activity, healthy food, and meaningful connections with one another.

Our programs connect individuals and families to local parks, trails, gardens, and green spaces through community hikes, bike rides, yoga classes, gardening projects, cleanups, and other outdoor wellness activities. By promoting active lifestyles and environmental stewardship, we work to reduce barriers to health while fostering a stronger sense of community.

Serving South Dallas and Oak Cliff, we partner with local organizations, volunteers, and community leaders to create accessible programs that encourage residents to explore their neighborhoods, improve their well-being, and take an active role in building healthier, more vibrant communities.

Through education, engagement, and outdoor experiences, Make The Healthy Choice Foundation is helping create a future where every resident has the opportunity to live a healthier life and thrive.

Giving Activity

Mission

Our mission is to lead a community driven model of public health in South Dallas that integrates outdoor activity, environmental health and climate awareness, and equitable food access to produce measurable and sustainable health outcomes.

Needs

Make The Healthy Choice Foundation seeks support to expand access to free outdoor health and wellness programming in South Dallas. Funding will help provide community hikes, bike rides, yoga classes, community gardening activities, environmental stewardship projects, volunteer supplies, safety equipment, educational materials, and outreach efforts that connect residents to healthy lifestyles and local green spaces.

Many South Dallas neighborhoods experience higher rates of chronic disease and face barriers to accessing affordable health and wellness opportunities. Through our programs, we create safe, welcoming spaces where residents can improve their physical activity, build social connections, learn about nutrition and environmental health, and become active stewards of their community.

Contributions received through North Texas Giving Day will help us increase the number of community events we offer, expand volunteer engagement, strengthen partnerships with local parks and organizations, and reach more families throughout South Dallas and Oak Cliff. Every donation directly supports our mission of improving public health through environmental, nutritional, and fitness education while increasing access to outdoor recreation and healthy living opportunities.

Equity Statement

At Make The Healthy Choice Foundation, we believe that everyone deserves equitable access to opportunities that support health, wellness, and quality of life. We recognize that many communities face barriers to healthy living, including limited access to safe outdoor spaces, nutritious foods, health education, and recreational opportunities.

Our commitment to equity guides how we design and deliver our programs. We work to ensure that residents of South Dallas and surrounding communities have access to inclusive, affordable, and culturally responsive opportunities that promote physical activity, environmental stewardship, and community well-being. We strive to engage individuals of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and income levels in meaningful experiences that foster health, connection, and empowerment.

Through partnerships, community engagement, and resident-centered programming, we seek to reduce disparities, strengthen community assets, and create pathways for healthier, more vibrant neighborhoods where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
