Founded in 1952, the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving families in the Lakewood area of East Dallas. Our mission is to enrich the lives of neighborhood children by fostering meaningful connections among families and raising critical funds for local schools.For nearly five decades, LECPTA has turned community support into lasting impact — raising millions to strengthen East Dallas public schools and organizations. Five of the six schools we support are Title I schools, making our collective impact more meaningful than ever. LECPTA helps fund:
Teacher wish lists, so educators don’t have to dip into personal funds for classroom and student enrichment
Access to additional educational tools and curriculum, enhancing both teaching and learning experiences
Safety upgrades and campus improvements, ensuring secure, welcoming school environments
Direct donations to 5 Title I schools in East Dallas
Direct donations to the J.L. Long and Woodrow Wilson Community Peace Pantries, helping address food insecurity among local students
Mission
Founded in 1952, the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving families in the Lakewood area of East Dallas. Our mission is to enrich the lives of neighborhood children by fostering meaningful connections among families and raising critical funds for local schools.
Needs
LECPTA began directly funding the Peace Pantries at Woodrow Wilson High School and J.L. Long Middle School. In Dallas ISD, food insecurity remains one of the most pressing challenges facing students and families and these pantries provide essential snacks and meals to students facing food insecurity.
New for 2025-2026: LECPTA is setting an exciting new goal in addition to our feeder pattern support: contributing to the Lakewood Elementary playground project. This innovative space will inspire movement, learning, and connection for generations of children.
