$5,000 Goal

Kind Cooking is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to fight food insecurity in North Texas. We provide classes on healthy cooking and cooking on a SNAP budget, and groceries, cooking supplies, and emergency food bags to participants.

We work with other local non-profits to serve their communities at no cost to them, including The Family Place, Brighter Days (formerly Rainbow Days), Shared Housing Center, Heart House, and others!

Here are some of the ways your funds help us do our work -

  • $25 - Covers one emergency food bag for a program participant containing shelf-stable proteins, vegetables, breakfast, and snack foods
  • $75 - Covers one case of hams for our holiday ham giveaway
  • $200 - Covers one week of healthy cooking classes for 10 participants, including groceries and cooking supplies
  • $500 - Covers 25 emergency foods bags (the number many of our non-profit partners request)
  • $750 - Covers a 4-week program of healthy cooking classes for 10 participants, including groceries and cooking supplies

Mission

Kind Cooking fights food insecurity in North Texas by helping teach the community how to cook and eat healthy on a SNAP budget.

Needs

To operate its programs, Kind Cooking needs groceries and cooking supplies to provide to participants, or money to make those purchases. A four-week program for 10 participants costs approximately $750 to run. Our emergency food bags that are distributed cost approximately $25 per bag.

Kind Cooking also is in need of volunteers interested in teaching cooking or nutrition to help us expand our programs!
