At the Betty Walker Waites Foundation, we believe strong communities are built when people show up for one another.
Founded in 2021, our nonprofit was created from a heart for service and a commitment to helping children and families throughout North Texas overcome everyday challenges with dignity, compassion, and hope.
We understand that hardship rarely comes in just one form. A family struggling to put food on the table may also need shoes for their children, school supplies, clothing, hygiene products, or help getting through an unexpected crisis. That is why our approach is centered on supporting the whole family and meeting people where they are.
Through our programs and community outreach, we provide food and meal assistance, children’s shoes and clothing, hygiene and household essentials, school supplies and literacy resources, eyeglasses assistance, holiday support, emergency resources, and other necessities that help families move toward greater stability.
Our work is powered by dedicated volunteers and strengthened through partnerships with schools, businesses, nonprofits, donors, and community organizations that share our commitment to serving others.
As our foundation continues to grow, so does our vision. Through Betty Bridge, we are expanding our work to support youth and young adults impacted by foster care as they prepare for adulthood, employment, college or career training, and greater independence.
At BWWF, we don’t believe community service is simply about handing someone an item. It’s about seeing the person, recognizing the need, restoring dignity, and letting families know they have a community standing beside them.

The Betty Walker Waites Foundation exists to strengthen children, individuals, and families throughout North Texas by meeting immediate needs while creating pathways toward stability, opportunity, and self-sufficiency.
We believe families deserve more than temporary assistance. They deserve dignity, resources, encouragement, opportunity, and a community willing to stand beside them. Through compassionate service, dedicated volunteers, and strong community partnerships, we work to remove barriers and help families move forward.
Our mission comes to life through programs and services that address the needs of the whole family.
🍎 Food & Family Assistance — Providing nutritious food, household essentials, and emergency assistance to families experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship.
👟 Robert’s Guardian Angel Shoe Program — Providing children with properly fitting shoes so they can attend school and participate in everyday activities with comfort, confidence, and dignity.
📚 Bright Futures Literacy & School Readiness — Helping students succeed through books, backpacks, school supplies, literacy resources, and educational support.
👓 Eyeglasses Assistance — Helping children and families access vision resources so poor vision does not become another barrier to learning, employment, or everyday life.
🧼 Clothing, Hygiene & Essential Needs — Providing clothing, personal-care products, toiletries, and other necessities to children and families experiencing hardship.
🥗 Evelyn’s Meal Assistance — Providing meal and food assistance to individuals and families experiencing difficult seasons.
🎒 Back-to-School Support — Helping students begin the school year prepared and confident through backpacks, school supplies, clothing, shoes, and other educational necessities.
🎄 Holiday & Seasonal Assistance — Supporting children and families through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other seasonal initiatives so families experiencing hardship can still experience dignity, joy, and community.
🤝 Community Outreach & Emergency Support — Partnering with schools, businesses, nonprofits, volunteers, and community organizations to bring essential resources directly into North Texas communities and respond when families experience unexpected hardship.
🌉 Betty Bridge — Supporting youth and young adults impacted by foster care as they prepare for adulthood and independence. Betty Bridge helps young people navigate obtaining important personal documents, prepare résumés and job applications, develop interview and workforce skills, explore employment opportunities, pursue college degrees or career and technical training, access educational resources, develop financial literacy and independent-living skills, and connect with caring people and community resources.
Betty Bridge is more than a program—it is our commitment to help be the family and village young people need as they take their next steps into adulthood.
