Allen Garden Club

The Allen Garden Club (AGC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1998 with the intention of helping educate people in Allen and the surrounding areas about gardening. We offer monthly programs on plants, trees, landscape design, perennials, houseplants, organic gardening, and much more. We also give back to our community by performing community service projects such as planting trees and gardens to beautify the city. All are welcome to our monthly meetings.

Our Needs

We are funding a $1,000 teacher's grant for this school year to support a garden-related school project that will benefit many of our students in grades K-12 at one of the Allen ISD schools.

Since 2009, our club has proudly installed and maintained the Adopt‑a‑Spot garden next to the Heritage Park playground. Over the past year and a half, the city’s water‑line replacement project has caused unavoidable damage to the garden, leaving several areas in need of restoration.

To bring the space back to its full beauty, we need funds to replace plants and replenish compost and mulch. We estimate an additional $500 will be required to complete this restoration.

Our long‑term vision is to create an educational children’s garden in a public park—a hands‑on learning space where classes and community groups can explore:

• the wide variety of native and adapted plants that thrive in our region,

• both the common and botanical names of these plants,

• the birds, butterflies, and other pollinators the garden will attract,

• and many additional lessons connected to plants, wildlife, and the natural world.

To support school groups, we plan to incorporate the Junior Master Gardener program as part of the garden’s educational curriculum.

To bring this project to life, we aim to raise $4,000. Our largest anticipated expense is the irrigation system, estimated at $2,000. Additional funds will go toward trees, plants, compost, mulch, stone, edging, signage, lumber, trellises, and other essential materials needed to build a welcoming and engaging learning environment for children.

Our Partners

We proudly partner with organizations such as the Collin County Master Gardeners, Keep Allen Beautiful, Allen High School JROTC, local Scout groups, and the Allen High School horticulture program. Their support helps us install new phases of local gardens, complete additional community garden projects, and ensure long‑term maintenance of these spaces.

We also contribute to a variety of garden‑related community landscaping efforts, including the historic buildings at Allen Heritage Village, our Adopt‑a‑Spot garden at the Heritage Park playground, and the children’s garden at St. Jude Catholic Church. Each year, our members volunteer many hours to design, install, and maintain these gardens, helping to create welcoming and educational green spaces throughout our community.
