CSNTM was founded in September 2002 by noted New Testament scholar and professor, Dr. Daniel B. Wallace, to utilize emerging technologies to photograph and fully archive all known Greek New Testament manuscripts. Since the Center's founding, we have gained an international reputation for our expertise in digitization and manuscript studies. As of 2022, we have collaborated with more than 45 institutions on 4 continents to produce nearly 300,000 images from approximately 700 New Testament manuscripts. In the process, we have discovered over 75 New Testament manuscripts that were previously unknown--more than any other organization in the 21st century.
Our online library features images or links to more than 2,000 manuscripts. These images can be freely accessed at csntm.org/Manuscript -- a searchable library of Greek New Testament manuscripts. Additionally, our annual internship program invests in the next generation of New Testament scholars by training Dallas-area graduate students. Through this program, we have helped develop 30% of the rising New Testament textual scholars over the past ten years, right here in North Texas.
CSNTM exists to pursue the great and noble task of preserving the accuracy of the New Testament text and tracing its history through the ages. In support of this mission and vision, CSNTM focuses on three main tasks: resourcing scholars and teachers with relevant materials using emerging technologies, training new generations of scholars and educate the wider audience in the history of the New Testament, and collaborating with other institutions and scholars in fields helpful to New Testament research.
Using conventional digital and multispectral technologies, CSNTM seeks to digitally preserve every known Greek New Testament manuscript and make them available to everyone via our freely accessible collection online at manuscripts.csntm.org. More than 50,000 people access our website every year, and our images are the foundation for the modern translations of the New Testament that people use everyday.
In North Texas, we train Dallas-area graduate students in New Testament scholarship through our annual internship program. Through this program, we have helped develop 30% of the rising New Testament textual scholars over the past ten years, right here in North Texas. Beyond the alumni who continue working with manuscripts, countless professors, authors, pastors, teachers, theologians, and leaders draw on their training at CSNTM to pursue truth in their respective fields.
As part of our mission and vision, we invest in promising New Testament scholars through a rigorous and rewarding internship program. This includes the opportunity to attend high-level scholarly conferences, such as the Society of Biblical Literature. Students also have the opportunity to join manuscript digitization expeditions.
