Texas Wesleyan University, founded in 1890, is a United Methodist institution which focuses on professional and career preparation. Our mission is to develop students to their full potential as individuals and as members of the world community. Texas Wesleyan offers undergraduate degrees in 25 fields of study across four schools, as well as graduate programs in business, education, counseling, and nurse anesthesia. Many undergraduate students are non-traditional with 25 being the average student age, while over 40% of undergraduates are first-generation college students and more than 50% are Pell eligible. Texas Wesleyan University is designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).
The Wesleyan Fund is designated as the university's annual fundraising effort to assist students in meeting their financial assistance needs. The funds raised are used to bridge the financial gap of students who need supplemental financial aid, to provide funding for key academic programming, and to address unexpected student needs. In fact, Texas Wesleyan was recently recognized by U.S. News and World Report [link toU.S. News and World Report] as a “Top Performer on Social Mobility” because of our success at enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students. For 135 years. Texas Wesleyan has strengthened the economy of our community in this way, and the Wesleyan Fund continues to ensure all student needs are met, giving students the ability to earn a post-secondary education in a supportive environment.
Our Needs
The Wesleyan Fund plays a vital role in the university's ability to raise critical annual support each year. Contributions to this fund help the university address the financial and academic needs of our students. This fund allows us to be nimble and direct dollars wherever they are needed, including our biggest priorities:
Scholarships. There are students out there today who deserve a Texas Wesleyan education but don’t think it is financially possible. Scholarships close the gap between working hard for a degree and being able to afford a degree – because everyone with a Ram’s heart, no matter their background or financial circumstance, deserves the opportunity to study what they love and pursue the greatest things they can dream of.
Faculty recruitment and retention. The professors who not only inspire our Rams but make personal connections with each student are some of the greatest aspects of our academic experience. With The Wesleyan Fund, we can attract top faculty from around the country and ensure they are longtime members of the Ramily.
A student experience second to none. From keeping our campus beautiful to offering tech support when students need it, The Wesleyan Fund supports the small and the big. The excellence of our experience is in the details – the services we offer, programs we launch, places we connect and traditions we create add up to a University like no other.
