As a 100% donation funded and volunteer only dog rescue, TIGR maximizes every dollar for the dogs medical care by negotiating with vets for the best prices, searching for the best rates on food, medication and supplies. We are a small group that fosters dogs in our home and will only board if we can not find volunteers to take on a foster dog. Each of our foster homes is responsible for feeding and transporting our foster dogs, bringing dogs to our monthly meet and greets, and contacting TIGR when their foster needs medical attention.
Texas Italian Greyhound Rescue is in constant need of funds to provide medical attention to our foster dogs. This includes: spay/neuter, shots, dental, fecal, heartworm testing. Additional things would be: heartworm treatment, lab work, xrays, orthopedic work etc... We have long term special needs IG's that have medication and special food on a monthly basis.
Rescue, Rehabilitate and Re-home Italian Greyhounds and other Sighthounds
Educate the public about the desirability of adopting Italian Greyhounds as companions and family pets in the home.
Facilitate placing Italian Greyhounds in loving, responsible, forever homes. Provide continuing educational support to the Italian Greyhound family after placement to ensure a successful adoption.
Support, welcome, and encourage an active, organized volunteer base of Italian Greyhound lovers who share the passion and vision of finding loving, responsible, forever homes for Italian Greyhounds to live out their natural lives.
Stress the importance of spay and neuter as a means of controlling the number of unwanted animals.
Connect with other groups and people that assist and adopt Italian Greyhounds to promote adoption worldwide.
