DFWROS is a non-profit organization, registered charity, and tax-deductible charity founded in 2016 in the state of Texas. DFWROS was started to help refugees successfully adapt to their new society.

Despite relying on donations, DFWROS has assisted 1000+ refugees, predominantly families from Syria, Iraq, Africa, Afghanistan, and Rohingya. The organization needs support to carry on its examples of success in the areas of mentorship, leadership development, economic mobility, thriving communities, and educational equity.

Your donations will make it possible to continue and expand specific programs:

● ESL Classes

● Emergency Preparedness Classes

● Mentoring Classes

● Tailoring Classes

● Workforce Development

We live in an era of uncertainty. Basic necessities and comforts that so many of us once took for granted are now in jeopardy. Socio-economically disadvantaged refugees are even more vulnerable. Of the many uncertainties wreaking havoc on so many lives, including COVID-19, unemployment, facing possible rental evictions, and food uncertainty, the uncertainty about survival is by far one of the worst, especially when it affects the ability to adapt to the larger society.

According to data from the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, Texas has received more refugees than any other state between 2010 and 2019 with nearly 57,000 recorded arrivals. Texas has led resettlement efforts in the country, as the state received almost 10,500 Afghan evacuees as of the end of February, according to the brief on Apr 26, 2022.

Many people think that once refugees have arrived on our shores, their hurdles are over and they are free. Unfortunately, this is not true and can actually hinder their ability to adapt and thrive. There is a lack of resources and organizations in the DFW area that address the common problems that refugees face:

 ● difficulty speaking and learning English

 ● raising children and helping them succeed in school in a new, unfamiliar culture

 ● securing work regardless of their educational or professional background

 ● securing and affording safe housing

 ● accessing services, including health and mental health services

 ● obtaining a driver’s license or means of reliable transportation

 ● cultural differences and barriers

DFWROS was founded to specifically assist refugees during their resettlement in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The organization identified a gap in services currently available to refugees- MENTORING. The identification of this gap has allowed us to develop a solid plan, set forth performance objectives, and establish a success matrix for our program.
