Please join me in supporting Journey Forward Mentoring, an organization based in Dallas that encourages and supports local high school and college students. Our focus is on offering guidance, educational resources, career advice, and life skills essential to help create brighter futures.

The Urgent Need

In Dallas, many students from low-income families don't get enough help to prepare for college and careers. On average, public high school students only get 38 minutes of advice about college and jobs during their entire four years of high school. Because of this lack of help, fewer than 20% of Dallas ISD students are ready for college and careers when they graduate. And less than a third of Dallas students end up getting a college degree or technical certificate.

Our Solution

Journey Forward steps in to fill this gap by providing consistent, long-term mentoring for high school and post secondary students. Our mission is simple: To inspire and guide Dallas students to excel academically, professionally, and ultimately in their communities by connecting them with local professionals through one-on-one mentoring 

A true grassroots organization which began in 1 high school - Adamson High School in Oak Cliff - in 2014 with a few passionate professionals looking to give back to the local community through mentorship. It has since expanded to 3 High Schools and 65 students in the 22-23 and is continuing to grow. This year, its goal is to serve 120 high school students at 5 partner sites and 20 postsecondary students.

Our Financial Need

As we continue to expand, so do our financial requirements. We need funds to extend our post-secondary support programs and to employ a coordinating team to handle strategic planning, guidance, and administration—a critical foundation for the success of any impactful organization.

My personal Journey

I attended DISD schools throughout my entire K-12 journey. Even though my parents never finished high school, they deeply understood the importance of education and motivated both me and my sisters to complete our education.

It was during my senior year of high school that I received my first wake-up call. A counselor asked me about my plans after graduation, and I realized I didn't have a clear answer. That moment made me realize I needed help and guidance.

I decided to attend El Centro - Dallas College, and it was there that I truly grasped the immense value of mentorship and forming meaningful relationships. My life transformed because of the incredible individuals who supported and encouraged me to aim higher.

From there, I went on to UT Austin, and today, I have the privilege of working with and supporting fellow Latinos on their life journeys. It's a journey of growth, hope, and the power of community.
