My family fell in love with the Fortress mission over 10 years ago. We loved that Fortress was grounded in faith and focused on empowering students through education. Through the after school program, they provided a safe and welcoming environment for students as well as making a meaningful and lasting impact on their lives. Since that time all those years ago, programming has absolutely exploded and our Fortress leadership continues to faithfully follow God's call. As a family, we believe it is our responsibility to serve others and through that service offer hope and encouragement. Fortress gives us so much space to do just that.  I love how the Fortress staff and incredible volunteers breathe hope into the lives of children and their families in so many ways: academic and emotional support, mentoring, spiritual nurturing, fun and games, meals and snacks - the list could go on and on.

Besides serving as our Board Chair, I also organize the teacher workroom a couple of times a month. My husband and I and our friends love to hand out candy at Trunk or Treat and see all the kiddos dressed up. We also love attending the StoryLand Dinner and Auction with our friends. It's a beautiful night out, a lot of fun, and some friendly (mostly 😉) competitive bidding for awesome auction items!

I always walk out the doors of Fortress with a full heart, having been reminded of what is really important. Fortress employees are full of passion for the mission - the kind of passion is contagious and puts life in perspective.

Thank you for joining me in supporting this important work. We all get by with a little help from our friends, and I appreciate you linking arms with me to be a friend to Fortress today.
