After-School All-Stars provides middle school students with caring adult mentors and fun activities, keeping them safe when the bell rings and they have nowhere else to go. Their campuses have limited resources to offer them outside of the school day, and coming home at 3 PM is largely unfeasible for working class parents. Our clubs and academic supports are designed to keep students engaged and learn how to not only process everyday struggles that come with being a middle schooler, but also learn to make healthy choices that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

Mike Horlick with CAPTRUST generously pledged to MATCH funds raised to my campaign page, so every dollar you donate will essentially count TWICE!

I personally was drawn to this work because it was through the special connections I made with faculty like my band director, my 7th grade English teacher, and the most dedicated principal that I found belonging in middle school. I knew these key figures cared how I performed when I went to competitions, I knew there was someone who read the poetry I submitted to contests, and I knew there was always someone who cared whether I made it to school or not. It's no wonder kids are 67% more likely to finish high school when they have a positive youth development mentor.

I champion our work because I believe that a child's access to critical, success-driving resources, like quality education and enrichment, should never be determined by their zip code, race/ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.

This is why our daily programs are provided to 800 under-resourced youth at no cost to them, their families, or their schools.

Be that adult who believes in students by supporting us this North Texas Giving Day.
