I have volunteered with the Dallas Cat Lady for quite a few years now. As a former rehab nurse, I really enjoy caring for kittens with mobility issues. Cats who have CH, also called Wobbly kitten syndrome, cats with amputations and other issues that affect how they move and get around.  Just a few of the cats that I have fostered that needed special care:

Ginger Snap was found injured, it was determined that she was most likely thrown from a car. She had injury to her mouth and needed help eating and healing. With TCL, modified food dishes and rest she recovered and was adopted by a wonderful family who love her.

Angel, a feral community kitten, was found outside unable to walk and dragging her legs. She required help to go to the bathroom by expressing  her bladder and bowels. It was found that Angel had a birth defect and that her back legs were backwards. With lots of TCL, modified equipment, exercises and time, Angel was able to get around, use the litter box on her own and was adopted by a wonderful women with experience with cats that had mobility issues.

Harlow, a feral community cat, was trapped with a injured leg and had bone exposed. She required surgery and recovery to help her heal and get used to only having 3 legs. She didn't  need any special equipment but did need TLC, medications and a lot of TLC. Harlow went into a barn program where she could live outside but be cared for in a safe environment.

When Bodie was brought into the rescue, he was unable to do anything but roll from side to side. He was unable to eat on his own or to use the litter box. His X-rays were normal. It was determined that he had severe CH. This is not something they get, they are born with it. It doesn't get worse but can improve as they age and get stronger. With lots of attention, exercises, modification of equipment  and enrichment, Bodie was eventually able to eat on his own and used a low entry litter box on his own! He loved playing with the other kittens around him and really enjoyed ball toys. Bodie was adopted by a wonderful lady who has experience with CH cats.

Because of The Dallas Cat Lady Ginger Snap, Angel, Harlow and Bodie and many others have survived, thrived and found loving homes!

Caring for all cats is not easy but to take on special needs kittens can be very expensive for rescues. Increased vet bills, surgeries, medications, special equipment and such can really strain the funds of a non-profit rescue.  Please help the Dallas Cat Lady to help these special needs kittens by donation to the Dallas Cat Lady.
