Roni's Fundraising Page for Mesquite Arts Center

As a board member of the Mesquite Arts Center, I am encourag my friends and family to donate to the Mesquite Arts Center on North Texas Giving Day 2022. 

My passion for The Arts is deep-rooted in Mesquite. From a young age, I remember rehearsing and performing in PTA programs at Rutherford Elementary. In Fourth grade, I auditioned for the Mesquite All-City Girls Choir. I competed against classmates and students from other schools, memorizing music and sight-singing; a process that I continue to teach. For the following two years, I would attend weekly rehearsals that built the foundation of performance standards, for which I would later hold my students accountable.  

I performed under the direction of a future colleague, Kimbrough Middle School Choir Director, Ms. Bowman, and remember first performing on the stage of the Mesquite Arts Center. 

My passion for singing continued as a student at Richland Community College and then at Texas A&M Commerce, as a Music Education Major. During that time, I served in several leadership capacities throughout the Choral Program. 

I returned to Mesquite as a First Year Choir Director at Agnew Middle School in 2011. Although I was new to the building, my father and his four siblings were Agnew Alumni many years before, when it was much smaller, and they were one of the first Hispanic families in the community. 

My last three years as a Choir Director were spent at Kimbrough Middle School, where I worked as the Choir Director and assisted with several performance groups throughout Campus.

Although I am no longer a student, educator, or resident of Mesquite, I would like to support those who are.

By donating to the Mesquite Arts Center, we provide students and families of the community, the opportunities to learn, grow and create together, resulting in strong relationships and community bonds that will continue to enhance the City of Mesquite and communities throughout North Texas.
